Medical Marijuana
Medical Marijuana: "Natural is safer."
Few, if any, medicines treat more conditions as safely as cannabis (marijuana). The State of Hawaii authorizes medical use of marijuana by qualifying patients with medical certification. Our experienced patient friendly medical cannabis evaluation & registration services assure you get your Hawaii state authorization ("blue card") to use your medicine (cannabis) is quickly and painlessly as possible.
2) Dr. Baiko obtains medical history and performs physical to determine whether you qualify for medical cannabis. (All patients, especially those under the age of 30, are strongly advised to provide past medical records documenting their history of a qualifying medical condition. If these can not be obtained, a recommendation letter from the patient’s primary care provider will be accepted. Qualifying conditions include cancer, glaucoma, HIV/AIDS, and debilitating conditions associated with severe pain, nausea, wasting, seizures and/or spasms.)
3) If you qualify, Dr. Baiko discusses best ways to utilize your medicine, reviews state medical marijuana law and completes required paperwork with you. (A photocopy of one of the following will be made during appointment:
Hawaii Driver's License or Hawaii State ID or Passport).
4) Dr. Baiko provides you with a letter certifying that you are medically qualified to use cannabis and that your registration application is being submitted to the state. (This certification is not to be confused with the state issued blue card. Nor does it offer the same level of protection, but it has helped some of our patients in court and with their landlords and employers.)
After appointment:
5) We submit paperwork to state. (The state Narcotics Enforcement Division should mail you a temporary permit in 1-3 weeks after receiving the completed application from our office. This temporary permit is good from the date the N.E.D. receives the application to the date you receive your card.)
6) We mail you your registration card when we receive it back from the state. (Total time frame from appointment to getting your card ranges anywhere between 2 weeks and 6 months due to state bureaucratic sluggishness.) 7) We consider ourselves an ongoing resource to your medical need. (We are ready to answer any questions you might have on the way, assist in state form completion for changes in address and caregivers.)
8) Registration cards expire 1 year from last day of month the N.E.D. receives complete applications. (Recertification evaluation is required for registration renewal.)
